The Nigerian entertainment industry not only prides itself with its interesting, mind-blowing Nollywood movies but also has some great musicians.

The Pan Afrikanist family visited the green land and interviewed McGee Charles whose voice is the loudest in the lyrical heaven.

Mcee Charles whose birth name is Olewunne Charles Chibuzor was born on July 30 1997 in a Christian family. His mother is an evangelist and his father is a business guru who deals with car parts.

Despite his love for music, Mcee does a lot of things to support his career. He designs websites, makes App, mixes, and masters songs. Nonetheless, his passion for music has always been there since he was 16 years old but he only started recording last year.

Although there are many genres in music, Charles chose to rap because it gives him more ground to be poetic, paint pictures with the words and the flow gives him an appreciation for the genre.

In addition, he prides himself on the storytelling skills that he is mastering and adding to his craft. Although the music industry in Nigeria is awesome and competitive, the problem is that the genre Charles has chosen is not really appreciated.

Most people find Afro sound more relatable. However, that hasn’t stopped Charles from building his brand as a rapper.

He once tried Afro music but he feels more comfortable with rapping in English because he wants to expand worldwide and he wants a genre that every English-speaking person can understand.

Charles writes his songs. He is inspired by other people’s stories. Sometimes he goes about with his jotter, interviewing people or having a conversation here and there.

Then he writes their ideologies in his jotter to be re-written as lyrics and turned into a song. Other times his supporters hit him up to share their stories to which he will put into a song.

Charles has a job and does music at the same time hence he always has a hard time balancing the two. Moreover, he doesn’t go to live shows because his genre is perceived as an ‘outcast’.

For these reasons he often thinks of relocating to Europe or America. He is the master of his craft and has no agent or record label. In fact, he has his own home studio.

Charles has achieved a growing fanbase. He has supporters from other countries and most of them are from America and South Africa. He hopes to get a million supporters.

The young rapper has a lot of plans for his music career as he wants to start making covers then target the right audience.

Charles has collaborated with other artists such as Emma McGraw (USA), Della Marine (SA), Henry Jane music (SA), Cassidy Ford (USA), and Ashita Agarwal (India).

His music can be accessed on YouTube and is also available on his websites all for free for now: https://bit.ly/mceecharles.
