Justice of Appeal, Hon. Justice Monametsi Steve Gaongalelwe retired at the end of his contract on the 29th of April 2022, the Administration of Justice has confirmed.

In a statement tit e public, the AOJ informed that Justice Gaongalelwe’s legal career spans over 47 years. He started practicing law after graduating from the University of Botswana, Lesotho, and Swaziland (UBLS) in Roma, the Kingdom of Lesotho in 1975.

Justice Gaongalelwe started his career at the Attorney General’s Chambers in 1975. After three (3) years of service, he joined private practice and later on established his own law firm in Lobatse with the Former Hon. Chief Justice Maruping Dibotelo, practicing under the name and style: Dibotelo, Gaongalelwe & Company.

Justice Gaongalelwe served as Judge of the High Court from 2003 – 2012 before being appointed Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2012.

The Judiciary extended its sincere gratitude for the 19 years of diligent service and contribution to the jurisprudence of the country by Hon. Justice Gaongalelwe.
