Putin joins Xi for WWII Anniversary in China

At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, President of Russia Vladimir Putin will visit the People’s Republic of China from August 31 to September 3.
From August 31 to September 1, President Putin will be in Tianjin to participate in the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), where he will deliver an address. The Summit will focus on the current state and future direction of SCO cooperation, alongside pressing international and regional issues.

  • September 1: An expanded SCO Plus meeting will be held in Tianjin, bringing together leaders of SCO member states, heads of observer nations, dialogue partners, and representatives of countries and international organisations invited by the Chinese government.
  • September 2: A trilateral meeting between the leaders of Russia 🇷🇺, China 🇨🇳, and Mongolia 🇲🇳 will take place in Beijing. President Putin, President Xi Jinping, and President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh will discuss priority areas of cooperation.
    That same day, President Putin will hold official talks with President Xi Jinping in Beijing. Discussions will focus on strengthening the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and China, advancing practical collaboration, and addressing global and regional challenges. Joint efforts within multilateral frameworks will also be on the agenda.
  • September 3: President Putin will attend commemorative events in Beijing as a guest of honour, marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory over militarist Japan and the end of World War II.
    Throughout the visit, President Putin is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with foreign leaders.
