BCP Kgalagadi South Parliamentary candidate in the upcoming by-election, Tshepang David Brooks

Gaborone, Botswana — 8 September 2025

The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) has officially named Tshepang David Brooks as its candidate for the upcoming Kgalagadi South parliamentary by-election, following a unanimous endorsement by the party’s Central Committee.

The by-election was triggered by the recent death of Dr. Micus Chimbombi, the former Member of Parliament for the constituency. In a statement issued Monday, the BCP described Chimbombi as “a brother, a comrade, and a dedicated servant of the people,” and emphasized the constitutional need to ensure continued representation for Kgalagadi South.

BCP Publicity and Information Secretary, Cde. Mpho Mmannana Pheko explained in the Press statement that Brooks was selected in alignment with the constituency’s preference and praised his familiarity with regional challenges.

The party cited his commitment to inclusive development, land management, youth empowerment, and rural revitalization as key strengths.

“The socio-economic conditions in the region demand bold, people-centred leadership,” the statement read. “Tshepang is ready to be the voice of Kgalagadi South.”

The BCP also reiterated its stance on clean campaign financing, inviting supporters to contribute through designated party contacts.
