Gaborone, Botswana – January 12, 2026
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has officially announced the commencement of a Supplementary Voters’ Registration period, set to run from January 12, 2026, to February 13, 2026.
This registration period applies to all sixty-one constituencies across the country.

According to the IEC, the registration exercise will take place at the offices of Principal Registration Officers in each constituency.
The registration hours are from 7:30 AM to 12:45 PM and 1:45 PM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Principal Registration Officers, who are IEC officials based in District Offices, will oversee the process.
The IEC urges all eligible citizens of Botswana who are 18 years or older, possess a valid National Identity Card (Omang), and are not disqualified under Section 6 of the Electoral Act to register in person during this period.
This is a crucial opportunity for those who did not register for the 2024 General Elections to ensure their participation in future elections.
The Commission emphasised that registering to vote is both a constitutional right and a civic duty for all Batswana. Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of this supplementary registration period to make their voices heard in the democratic process.
For further information, the IEC can be contacted via telephone at 3612400, fax at 3900581/3905205/3190889, or toll-free at 0800 600 710. Additional details are available on their website at www.iec.gov.bw.
