When meeting with his counterparts from Southeast Asia on 5th April, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that rich nations with 16% of the world’s population have acquired 60% of the global supply of COVID-19 vaccines.
Some developed countries ordered amounts surpassing their own population three or four times, creating “a vaccination gap” between rich and poor nations.
He called for equitable vaccine distribution and noted that China has so far helped supply vaccines to over 80 countries and three international organizations as well as performed commercial deliveries of such preparations to more than 40 countries worldwide.
