In 2025, the educational project of the Open Education Center of St. Petersburg State University was successfully implemented once again at the University of Botswana. Over a three-month period, a teacher from the SPbSU Center for Language Testing, Dmitry Belousov, conducted Russian language courses.

Upon the project’s completion, more than 170 citizens of the Republic of Botswana had completed the training, exceeding the previous year’s figure of 152 individuals.

As part of the cultural program and with the assistance of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Botswana, two events were organized to introduce participants to contemporary Russian cinema and national culinary traditions. In addition to organizing the cultural program, the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Botswana provided significant support throughout the entire period of the project.

One of the student participants shared his impressions: “My experience of learning Russian over the past two months has been an exciting yet challenging process. It has given me an insight into what Russian culture encompasses. I would like to continue this journey to learn more.”

The project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the “My History” Fund for Support of Humanitarian Sciences. Its aims are to promote Russian culture abroad, create conditions for expanding international cooperation in the field of education in the Russian language, and encourage the study of Russian as a foreign language.

Subsequently, it is planned to continue the educational process in a distance learning format.
