The University of Botswana (UB) will host a delegation of 17 representatives from various Nigerian universities from the 26th to 29th of November 2024 at the UB Council Chamber.

The delegation will be led by the Secretary General of the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, Professor Andrew Haruna.

The primary objective of the visit is to foster strategic alliances among African universities and build continental synergies aligned with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

Furthermore, the visit presents an opportunity for UB to explore avenues for mutual collaboration and partnership with Nigerian universities.

Public Affairs Officer responsible for Media in the Department of Public Affairs (UB) Thomas Nkhoma explained in a media statement that a panel discussion will be held on the 27th of November 2024 at the University of Botswana Conference Centre to explore areas of cooperation.

The visiting delegation will also be treated to a packed programme that includes video tour of the University, visits to Mokolodi Nature Reserve and a mall visit to Game City.

The University of Botswana also aspires to become a High Performance Centre and has developed a Strategy to that effect.

To demonstrate this desire, UB will take the visiting Vice Chancellors on a tour of some of its facilities such as the UB Radio Station, and the Campus Indoor Sports Centre.

The latter facility can host big sporting games as well as avail its equipment for professional athletes for training.
