LONDON, UK: A new Botswana short film called “Partly Cloudy & Hot” will premiere at the Roxbury International Film Festival in the United States this June. According to the film’s Executive Producer Donald Molosi, “For Roxbury ‘s 25th anniversary they have invited our film to premiere in Boston.”

PCH, as the film is affectionately known, will likely be accompanied by its producers and stars as it tours the world’s film festivals.

“Partly Cloudy & Hot” marks Botswana-born model Kaone Kario’s film acting debut.  Kario is often dubbed Botswana’s first supermodel. She rose to prominence after winning Face of Africa pageant in 2005 and she has since become a global ambassador for many brands such as Imani Cosmetics, TK Maxx and Nivea to mention a few.

Award-winning South African star of the Oscar-winning film “Tsotsi” Zenzo Ngqobe stars opposite Kario as her husband in PCH. Ngqobe is a Setswana-speaking South African actor.

Says Ngqobe of portraying an on-screen couple with Kario: “It was great to work on PCH with Kaone. It didn’t feel to me like it was her first film. In some ways, models are equally actors.”

This weekend Kario took to social media to share the PCH poster with her fans and shower her co-star Ngqobe with praise. The model-cum-actress wrote, “A dream is coming true and it means so much to me. Zenzo Ngqobe, you make it so easy to work with you. You are a delight to watch and to become one with on-screen.”

The Roxbury International Film Festival is held annually in Boston, Massachusetts. According to a statement by Julie Mango Casting, “the casting of Zenzo and Kaone as a couple was the most natural choice and their chemistry worked.”

In “Partly Cloudy & Hot,” – a husband’s masculinity is challenged when his wife hands him a fertility test. At the premiere in Boston, PCH expects a diverse audience from all over the world.

The film poster was designed by Jomiro Eming and it was released on June 1 online. It shows the golden Kgalagadi sands with a plume of either smoke or cloud.

The stars’ names appear above: Zenzo Ngqobe and Kaone Kario. Below the graphics on the poster are the names of all the cast and crew in full.

In PCH, the husband (KB played by Ngqobe) and his wife (Sara played by Kario) leads us through a story of starting a family and along the way they involve their local church members played by Tulani Theo Tau and Gofaone Molosiwa.

As PCH gears up for its premiere in the United States, CattlePost Films will release the trailer for “Partly Cloudy & Hot” on June 9, 2023 on social media.
