The University of Botswana has finally established an online radio station which can be accessed on www.ubradio.co.bw or through a UBRadio App that can be downloaded on Google Playstore.

According to Public Affairs Officer at the county’s highest institution of learning, Thomas Nkhoma – himself a journalist of repute, having edited Kutlwano Magazine and served as Sub Editor for the state newspaper, Daily New – the official launch of UB Online Radio is slated for Thursday May 6, 2021at the Department of Media Studies, Block 247, 2nd Floor starting at 1430hrs.

Late last year during the launch of the New UB Strategy by Vice Chancellor Prof. David Norris, The Pan Afrikanist was fortunate to be taken on a guided tour of the radio studio as well as the UB television studio.

Although the television has not yet officially come on stream, students of the Department of Media Studies use the facilities for the practicals. The studio boasts the latest up-to-date equipment, which gives students a practical feel of what it is like to work in a radio station.

In the first installment of the Two Shores Dialogue series, two journalists — Ma Jiaying from China and Héribert Adjovi from Africa — exchange insights on the pressing issues of our time: rising trade protectionism, the shifting global order, and the long-term consequences of tariff wars. Reflecting on the legacy of the Bandung Conference, they advocate for renewed solidarity among the Global South, grounded in the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. A powerful, thoughtful dialogue that bridges continents and visions.
