Media Statement by Nkosi ZMD Mandela

Mvezo Komkhulu (The Great Place), Wednesday 16th October 2024: We demand the immediate release of Kémi Séba and Henry Djehuty. Kémi has been one of the most vocal and foremost advocates against neo-colonialism in Africa, particularly West Africa where French influence has endured.

Whilst on a tour addressing Africans in the diaspora he was arrested by the French authorities on Monday the 14th October 2024 at the Main d’Or Theatre in Paris. Apparently, a magistrate ordered his imprisonment on Sunday, as he was allegedly wanted for having violated the terms of a 2009 suspended sentence for violence.

We condemn any attempt to silence the voices of dissent that challenges mainstream political discourse, racism and zionism. We need more voices to stand up for justice, freedom of speech and fundamental human rights.

Kémi has been accused of promoting anti-french sentiments in West Africa. His actions are not only understandable but an appropriate response to the unequal power and exploitative economic relations between France and her former colonies.

There is much attention paid to his pro-Russian stance and public articulation but that is perfectly understood  because Russia never colonised a single nation in Africa. On the contrary the Soviet Union provided funding, training and equipment to many nations in Africa supporting us in our struggle for freedom.

We call on France to release Kémi Séba and allow him his fundamental human rights as well as right of free speech. We need more black voices to engage public discourse and counter the rising right-wing fascism

Kemi is the head of the French branch of the New Black Panther Party and a leading voice in Europe against racism.

The Royal House of Mandela (RHoM) is dedicated to upholding the life and legacy of President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and advocating the causes that he championed.
