Arton Capital, the world-leading investment migration consultancy, has today announced an exclusive memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Government of Botswana to build and launch a new Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP).

The CIP is set to revolutionise investor access to Botswana, which boasts the strongest credit rating in Africa according to Moody’s and Standard & Poor, and a stable financial system with a progressive approach to foreign controls on companies.

Prime investment opportunities include the country’s burgeoning luxury tourism industry, renewable energy, mining, and financial services sectors.

The new programme will raise funds to address priority needs for Batswana, including investment in the housing market to generate immediate impact.

The MOU comes as Botswana looks to continue the diversification of its economy away from the diamond trade. The new programme will seek to attract both foreign capital and international talent to build a sustainable future for the nation.

Admired internationally for its political stability, Botswana currently holds the 4th strongest passport in Africa, according to the Passport Index by Arton Capital.

With Arton Capital’s guidance, the government is targeting an ambitious 2027 date to reach the No.1 ranking on the continent, paving the way for Botswana passport holders to access the world’s biggest markets visa-free.

With work on setting up the new CIP already underway, potential investors gathered at a private event held at the Baccarat Hotel, New York, last night on the sidelines of the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations.

Since the official announcement, BotswanaCitizenship.com has become the new hub for registering interest.

Duma Boko, President of the Republic of Botswana, said: “This programme will enable us to continue to secure the long-term financial future of Botswana, unlocking opportunities for business owners and Batswana throughout our nation. This initiative represents an exciting opportunity for those who wish to be at the forefront of the future of global mobility. Botswana stands ready to welcome a host of affluent, talented global citizens who see the benefit of African citizenship, and the exceptional potential we can realise together.”

Armand Arton, Founder & CEO, Arton Capital, commented: Botswana stands at the edge of a bold new dawn, putting itself on the map for investors around the globe. The programme has the potential to deliver immediate impact for key sectors of the economy and will help build the investment necessary to make Botswana a new regional hub for cross-industry innovation. We have already started work on the construction of this ambitious programme, and we’re looking forward to playing our part in welcoming a host of talented entrepreneurs to Botswana.”
