Gaborone, 16 July 2026 — As part of its 35 Years of Help celebrations, the FNBB Foundation has launched Thuso e aga bokamoso (Help Builds the Future), a national Community Service Day initiative aimed at improving learning environments across Botswana.

The Foundation has pledged P950,000 towards the refurbishment of 20 public schools, working in partnership with the Education Infrastructure Management Company (EIMC), a government entity responsible for managing education infrastructure. The investment will cover classroom repairs and logistics to deliver the project nationwide.

On Thursday, FNB Botswana employees from branches and business units across the country will join EIMC, local artisans and school communities in a coordinated day of service. Volunteers will repair and install classroom doors and windows, creating safer and warmer learning spaces for learners during the winter season.

“We hope that our success will never be measured solely by financial performance, but equally by the opportunities we help create, the lives we positively influence and the institutions we strengthen,” said FNB Botswana Deputy CEO, Dr Mbako Mbo. “This initiative reflects what can be achieved when government, business and communities work together towards a shared goal.”

The partnership marks FNBB Foundation as the inaugural private-sector supporter of EIMC’s flagship programme Ke Abela Sekolo, which brings together government, businesses and communities to invest in safer, more conducive learning environments.

Beyond classroom improvements, the initiative will also stimulate local economic participation by engaging artisans and suppliers within the communities where the work is carried out.

The national volunteer effort forms part of FNB Botswana’s annual Community Service Day, which encourages employees to contribute their time and skills to projects that benefit communities. This year’s initiative is particularly significant as it underscores the Bank’s 35-year legacy of help — evolving from individual support to building stronger institutions and investing in Botswana’s future.

Learners in 20 schools across the country are expected to benefit from improved infrastructure, with the initiative standing as a model of how purposeful partnerships can help build brighter futures for generations to come.
