Putin Congratulates Touadéra on Election Victory, Pledges Stronger Ties with Central African Republic

Putin called Central African Republic (CAR) President Faustin-Archange Touadéra

MOSCOW/ BANGUI – 28 January 2026

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Central African Republic (CAR) President Faustin-Archange Touadéra on his re-election, following polls held on 28 December 2025.

In a telephone call on Tuesday, Putin conveyed his wishes for prosperity to the people of the CAR and reaffirmed Russia’s support for the country’s sovereignty and security. Touadéra, in turn, thanked Moscow for its “comprehensive support” in strengthening national stability.

The two leaders also discussed expanding cooperation in political, economic, trade, and humanitarian spheres, pledging to deepen bilateral relations.
