Russia’s delegation to the G20 Leaders Summit underscored the importance of the forum in advancing global cooperation, welcoming the adoption of a joint Declaration that includes key provisions on food security and sustainable development.

Maksim Oreshkin, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office and head of the Russian delegation, told Russian media that the agreement demonstrated the G20’s continued ability to “function and deliver results.”

Oreshkin stressed that Moscow seeks to contribute constructively to the group’s agenda regardless of which country holds the presidency. He also warned of growing fragmentation in the global economy, criticizing developed nations for what he described as “unlawful unilateral measures,” including sanctions, trade barriers, restrictions in technology and education, and the seizure of sovereign assets.

“Fair and efficiently functioning trade benefits not only Russia, but the entire world,” Oreshkin said, emphasizing the need for balanced economic cooperation.

The summit, hosted in Johannesburg under South Africa’s presidency, brought together leaders to address pressing issues of sustainable growth, food security, and global economic stability.
