The Ministry of Health and Wellness has advised the public that the campaign for the second dose of Covid 19 vaccines will commence on the 8th June 2021.

According to Spokesperson of the Ministry, the campaign will commence with those who have received the Sinovac vaccine while those who have received the Astrazanec vaccine will be due for their second dose in the week beginning 21 June 2021.

Nyanga confirmed in a Press Release that the Ministry of Health and Wellness District Health Management Teams (DHMTs) across the country will be available to give guidance to all who are due for their second dose.

According to Nyanga, the community is encouraged to visit the vaccination sites where they receive their first dose and to bring along their vaccination blue card for avoidance of doubt.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness further informed members of the public that the vaccination rollout programme for other Batswana and residents still awaiting to receive their first dose will be communicated in due course.

The county’s Covid 19 Vaccination Programme is currently at the tail end of the phase one category which prioritises those aged 55 and above, and all health workers.

With the arrival of other Covid 19 vaccine consignments expected, the ministry said the vaccination programme will progress to cover the remaining groups of the population.

Botswana has so far received vaccine consignments from India, China and the Covax facility. The United States of America has also pledged to support the country’s Covid-19 programme with a donation of vaccines.
