SPYL Secretary SWAPO Party

Revolutionary greetings to the Polisario Front, the Liberational Movement of Western Sahara.

SWAPO Party Youth League (SPYL) would like to congratulate the Polisario Front of Western Sahara on its 50th Anniversary, 10 May 2023. SWAPO Party and Western Sahara share a long history and working relationship.

While commemorating your 50th Anniversary, SPYL continues to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters of Western Sahara and we fully support their struggle for self-determination and independence of the people of Western Sahara that dates back approximately for Five decades.

As young Lions of SWAPO Party from the Republic of Namibia who went through similar atrocities that people of Western Sahara is faced with today, we took note that various platforms were organized over the past five decades across the world to address the illegal occupation of Western Sahara by the Kingdom of Morocco.

We continue to denounce the continuous illegitimate occupation of Morocco on Western Sahara and its people, we call for self-determination and independence with immediate effect, we call for respect for Fundamental Human Rights, Freedoms and Democratic interest of the people of Western Sahara.

We are further denouncing the illegal economic exploitation of Western Sahara, especially in respect to its fisheries and mining resources.

We are further submitting to this historical gathering for all young Sahrawian youth to be freed from unfair arrest and detention, and denial from basic fundamental rights such as quality education that remains paramount in this fourth industrial revolution.

We are calling on all member states of the United Nations, AU, and SADC to implement relevant resolutions for the holding of the UN referendum on western Sahara. Equally, we the SPYL call on Morocco to respect the aspirations of the Sahrawian people.

In recent years, we have been vocal on the matters concerning western Sahara through media releases, statements presented at various youth gathering in Namibia and internationally we have also successfully organized a peaceful solidarity march for the Sahrawian people during the visit of the President of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, His Excellency Brahim Ghali during his visit to Namibia in May 2018, and we remain forever calling for total independence of Western Sahara.

We believe Africa is not free until Western Sahara is free and we want to silence the guns in Africa. Happy anniversary Polisario Front!
