Russia Calls for Better Representation of Africa in UN Security Council

Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzya,

Various countries, including Russia and the United States, have repeatedly called for reform of the UN Security Council, although they disagree on the exact form that reform should take.

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vassily Nebenzya, called for better representation of Africa in the UN Security Council during a press conference.

Developing countries, or rather the Global South, including Africa, are underrepresented in the body, while the collective West is overrepresented, which does not reflect the current state of global geopolitics, he stressed.
